The Evolution of a Song - ProGX3

On July 5, 2024 the UGMG-C  released the first of the  6 Volume Digital Download set, " Jungle Groove the  E Six Sick Mixxes.

When you write a song you never know where/when or how it will develop into its final form, nor who will be instrumental in that’s song’s evolution. Jungle Groove originated from a desire to speak to the youth and let them know that I understand why they do what they do whatever it is legit or elegit, but to show them they need to do the right thing with the gifts they are given, for them and for those that came before.

I also wanted to create a FUNK opus, like my mentors James, George Prince and Sly, that spoke to Hip Hop and invited it to the party. I think I did this with this piece. But I didn’t do it alone. I was always searching for a group of stellar musicians who could see the vision and the goal. I was blessed to meet many great artists along the way but between 2015 – 2018 I encountered and worked with “my musical X-Men.” I call myself Pro-X, in part because I find gifted individuals who have a little something X-tra (Mutants, Lol). And I found it with this team.

We Recently lost one of our greatest team members, Art King “King of Arts”. The release of the Jungle Groove Guitar MiXX song and video are a tribute to him and all of the other guitarists who have inspired me those I know and those I have only heard.

The project Jungle Groove the 6 Sick MiXXes was created from a desire to give a song to the world that everyone could enjoy, which is why there are 22 very different versions of the song.  When I first created the tune The Gypsies played it at an open mic night at a club called Weeds. Being forced to use the low tech house sound system, with the help of our tech guys UGMG-C was able to deliver a crowd pleasing performance. Sitting at the bar ruminating on the just completed performance,  and being PISSED about it.  I was approached by a musician from Great Britain who performed “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zepplin, and did Led Zepplin proud; He comes up to me and says, “ Bro, was that an original?”, I say “Yeah”. And he responds,” That shit is a hit man, I don’t care when you put it out it’s a hit.”  And that was the beginning of the journey of the song Jungle Groove. There were many stops along the way, and many musicians who touched this song. But the team assembled in 2016 was the ultimate Gypsy Squad, and put the song on an entirely different level as I am sure you all will agree.
